  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (I left this out this time around)
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk (I used whole, I was out of buttermilk.)
  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 4 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups cocoa (baking)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

    Found this recipe for my 12 and 10 year old grand-daughters because they wanted to make a birthday cake. They followed the directions except they added confetti sprinkles. The cake was delicious, one of the best I have had in a while.

    perfect vanilla cake!. i made it minus the almond extract and used regular 2% milk. Delicious!😋

    Fabulous cake! Moist, light, fluffy... will leave out the almond extract next time but overall, the sponge was fabulous!

    cake turned out good. fluffy but just a little too sweet. unless you like it like that i suggest halfing the sugar quantity

    The cake was denser than expected and almost bread like, but delicious and I received many compliments. The frosting was sweet, but not too sweet, which was perfect.
