I love this recipe and use it as the basis for my own. As any self respecting wanna be cook will do, I've made a few changes. First off, I double the recipe, well, because you must! Second, and I can't say I recommend this step for obvious health reasons, but I uses the bacon grease for cooking. Third, a hole yellow onion instead of green onions, which I sauté before adding the shrimp. Fourth, instead of doubling the bacon, I add 1 lb sliced 1/2 in or so of Andouille sausage. Fifth, I season with Hungarian sweet paprika and 1 tbsp siracha. For the grits, I substitute half of the water with chicken and/or beef broth (whatever is on hand).

The grits are savory and creamy. The shrimp are delicious I added Ole bay to the shrimp seasonings, added a teaspon of brown sugar to the sauce. Well definitely make it again

I loved this dish! The only thing I changed was, before cooking the shrimp, I seasoned them with garlic salt and pepper as well as slap your mama. It turned out amazing!

Loved it. Didn’t change a thing. Husband went for seconds. Next time I might add a little hotness to kick it up a bit. Definitely will make again. Thanks for the recipe 😊

This was delicious! I'd never had shrimp with grits, but I remembered having grits with fish in Savannah and absolutely loved it. The shrimp alone was delicious fried in the bacon fat with the bacon, parsley, and green onion. But put it on top of the creamy, cheesy grits and its out of this world! I made this again for my son in law, who loves grits, and he was impressed!

This was good! Even my two family members who don't like grits liked it. I will say that because it had so much cheddar in it, I had to add a good amount of salt to cut the sharpness.

Loved it! Even the “I don’t like grits” person in the house liked them loaded with cheese!

Loved it. I added a little worsterschire sauce and swapped out the regular cheddar with smoked cheddar cheese and it was fantastic

Perfect! This recipe was delicious. My family has requested it every week! The shrimp taste was incredible and I am using it for other recipes as well. Yes to bacon!!!! Reasonable preparation time too. You won’t be disappointed

It was WONDERFUL!
Being from Louisiana, I'm embarrassed to say that I've never tried Shrimp & Grits. Couldn't find stone ground grits so I settled for old fashioned. Pretty much followed everything to a T aside from that. Hubby had his finished WAY before me. Will definitely make AGAIN!
Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Absolutely delicious! Added some Mascarpone to the grits for extra creaminess.

This is the very best version of shrimp and grits ever! The cheese grits were amazing (I did add about 2 tablespoons of room temp cream cheese to the grits though) and the shrimp sautéed in bacon grease elevated this dish way over the top!
