  • 3 russet potatoes (large)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 pounds ground beef (or lamb, turkey)
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (each, and pepper)
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen peas and carrots
  • 1/2 cup frozen corn
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

    Made one regular and one with Beyond Beef as the protein for my vegetarian daughter .. the flavor was so delicious

    Not a lot of flavor. The meat to potato ratio is way off. I’d do 1.5 lbs of meat instead of 2. I’d also do another potato. 35 minutes is way to long to cook it at 375 degrees. I cooked it for about 20 minutes at the top almost burned. Too bland.

    It turned out delicious at the first try. Of course, as many other comments are suggesting, adjust salt and seasoning to your taste, have some more stock just in case.

    Delicious but it needed more salt! I’d slightly increase the sauce amounts too, to get a bit bolder flavor - all easy fixes that I’ll do for next time!

    It was delicious. I doubled the recipe because I had my kids and grandkids over. They raved how good it was. Quite easy with using frozen vegetables. Cottage pie or shepherds pie is was delicious.

    I made this for four servings instead of eight. I found the measurement for the beef broth to be a little off - I had to add some extra. I also added a little extra tomato paste just because I love the flavor. The dish was tasty but it felt like it was missing something.

    almost exactly how I make it usually. some change in ingredients which made a nice variation to how I usually eat it. i will say though (as a British woman) that Cottage Pie is made with beef and Shephards Pie is made with lamb. That's the difference 🙂

    Amazing. We used a 50/50 lamb/beef combination. Just needs a little more salt for our taste but we will definitely be making it again and again.

    Really awesome had to use flour instead of corn starch but yeah it was good as usual. More meat though would be better I think maybe two pounds.

    Used leftover lamb chops cut into small pieces and it turned out perfect. Definitely going on the cold, winter night must have dinner.

    This looked so simple & delicious (which it was), except I did this on the spur of the moment and did not have carrots I substituted with corn kernels & added half a tin of baked beans just before oven time which turned out quite wholesome,

    Very tasty. This recipe had a little more flavourful ingredients than some but I still added a few more to taste. I added sweet paprika with tomato paste, leftover string beans and corn at the end of cooking meat and veg. Also cooked 2 cloves garlic with potatoes which were mashed together with a Tablespoon of butter and 1/4 cup milk. Topped with a little white extra old cheddar. The recipe would have been fine with no additions or changes.

    Delicious! I increased the Worcestershire and oregano in the ground beef mixture. I also put more cheese on top.

    I omitted the cheese and corn starch, and used ground turkey instead of beef. My children love Sheppard's Pie and my husband, didn't know it was made with turkey. I make this regularly, because I just Love It!
