I liked it more than most stews, I just don’t really love stew I guess. I used the instant pot on sauté to start and then stew/slow cooker. The stew setting did cause some burning.

Super good I added mushrooms and corn as suggested. My brother loved it and if you meal prep you got lunch a few times for the week! Will make again

My whole family loved this, including my kids who are 2 and 5! We left out the cloves and red pepper flakes, since my husband can't stand cloves and the kids don't like anything remotely spicy. I forgot to add the Balsamic vinegar and the parsley at the end, but will add that next time. I also used 2lb of stew meat, 9 oz gnocchi, 3 large carrots, and 2 large potatoes. We seasoned the meat, but didn't need to add any additional salt or pepper. Perfection!

this was fantastic! we followed the recipe exactly. we loved how thick and flavorful this stew was! (i do recommend using ground cloves, some have used whole cloves and werent happy with the flavor)

Everything about this stew is awesome, but even as a seasoned cook, I made a big mistake. The cloves. I put a "shake" of whole cloves into the sauce when the recipe called for a pinch. A pinch or a shake, what could be the difference? Well, a LOT. After many hours of simmering on the stove, the meat was perfectly tender, the gravy/sauce a perfect consistency, the carrots soft but not mushy and the gnocchi just right. Not one member of my family could eat more then a bite or two because the cloves overpowered the entire meal. It was a mouth burning, sickening, flavor. I admit, it was my fault for being heavy handed in adding them to the stew. This said, I plan to make this again and completely omit the cloves. I suspect that this recipe will be a 5 star if I leave them out.
Also, I added 2 -16 ounce packages of the gnocchi not 1 and it seemed to be the right balance of meat, veggies, gnocchi for the gravy/sauce.

My family and I did not like this recipe at all, I will not be making it again. Stew was very watery and the flavour was not nice.

Took a long time to make, but was worth the effort. Nice rich flavors mix well with the beef

I tweaked the recipe some and made it in my slow cooker. Came out great. It's very flavorful. Will make again!
