They were very dry. like something went terribly wrong. seems like too much oatmeal. I used rolled oats for what it’s worth. The batter tasted great, I added cinnamon to mine. I think if the recipe called for just one cup of oatmeal these would be much better.
Also, mine did not thin out, even with help from smashing, the excess oatmeal made the batter very dense.

They were almost tasteless so I added another 1/2 c both brown and white sugar that made a huge difference. The cookies flattened out and were crispy and carmelized.

These were fantastic! I did do a few things different. The regular raisins I had were not as soft as I would have liked and I let them soak in some grand marnier on the stove on very low simmer. I added the well beaten eggs which were still cold from the fridge and vanilla mixture to the raisins on the stove until warm so as to not cook the eggs (about 10 min). I blended steel cut oats, flour, salt and baking soda in the food processor. Then drained the egg, vanilla and grand marnier mixture from the raisins and beat into the butter sugar mixture. Added the dry ingredients (except I did not have any wheat germ on hand), then raisins and finally those chocolate chips Abbe mentioned. Used parchment paper and cooked 13 min. in middle of gas oven. They turned out just as she described! Will definitely make again!
