Delicious. Use 1 cup of beans (1/2 pound) for a smaller batch and don’t be afraid to increase the seasonings! I did soak them overnight and added a sprinkle of baking soda. Also, add the salt at the beginning of cooking rather than the end for a more thoroughly flavored result. Cook time was 90 minutes (bring to a boil, then simmer).

I made this recipe today and my house smells amazing. I doubled the spices and used two cups of LS chicken broth. I have made pinto beans many times and I love the flavor these have. One weird thing, they took five hours in my Dutch oven to get to the soft consistency that I like. Ooo-la-la!

It was good. Pic shown was without the juice I added after added cheddar cheese. Like others doubled spices added 1 chopped onion and bell pepper. I used low sodium chicken stock and cooked turkey sausage. Hold up wife just went back for a second bowl...guess I will put this in rotation for dinners now. 😆

Great flavor! I added half of chopped onion and cooked with smoked turkey necks. Hubby does not like cilantro so I omitted that.

I’m not vegan so I added chicken stock instead of the last 2 cups of water. I also doubled the spices and added liquid smoke. Delicious!

I took a cue from some others regarding doubling the spices. Pretty good. I’d make this recipe again and most likely will soon.

Love this recipe, we make it often and is easy to modify by adding onions, jalapeños or various spices.

I added onions and green bellpepper to my pot. Cooked on Med-High and it was perfect with my beef fajitas.

Double the recipe and the seasoning amounts still made it taste very plain .
