these are awesome if one remembers the proper way to bread foods: onion buttermilk, then onion flour, then onion buttermilk, finishing with the panko. The flour is the key to success as it acts like a anchor for the panko. plus adding a bit more seasoning was needed here too. i loved that they were not greasy like traditional rings are in most preparations.

Very good, had to make a fresh batch of panko/breadcrumbs halfway because the buttermilk makes the mixture clumpy and it does not stick to the onions. Once i did this it was perfect, will be making this again.

I could not get the breadcrumbs to stick at all. It was so lacking that I didn't even bother cooking it since they were just onions. Yuck.

Good! I left out the corn flakes. Never been a fan of corn flakes as a crust on food.

The recipe is pretty basic. I'm going to add more seasonings next time. I really enjoyed the fact that they weren't greasy. I dipped them in buttermilk then flour then buttermilk then breadcrumbs. All of the breading stayed on very well.
