Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Arrange half the potato slices in the bottom of the dish and season them liberally with salt and black pepper.
- Spray a large saucepan with nonstick cooking spray and set it over medium-high heat. Add the beef and diced onion. Saute, breaking up the meat with a rubber spatula as it cooks, until it is browned and the onion is softened, 7-8 minutes. Add the minced garlic, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Continue cooking until the garlic is fragrant, about 1 minute.

Wow! I am a beginner when it comes to cooking and I thought this would fall flat but it turned out terrific. It took me a while, but I will be making this again.

I added a few of the ingredients from other reviews. Overall this was an easy and good meal to make for my family. we will definitely have it again.

Came out yummy. My picky eater said it was delicious. Only changes were Italian seasoning, 1 cup of milk to finish the half and half, and I sautéed my onions and garlic before cooking the beef. My gravey came out a little thick but it’s been a while since I flexed that skill. Over all, very good I didn’t measure out salt or pepper. I just followed my heart.

My husband and I thought this recipe was delicious! I will definitely make it again!

My family enjoyed this. There is enough in the pan to freeze half after dinner for a family of four. Next time I’ll thin the sauce a bit and maybe add some more herbs.

This was an excellent choice. Tender potatoes. I added sour cream. Great taste. Wonderful casserole.

the burger was seasoned nice, the potatoes were fork tender. but there was just too much sauce.

I took the advice in other reviews and added two minced cloves of garlic, salt, pepper and 2 TBSP of Worcestershire sauce plus 1 TBSP water to the meat. I didnt have half and half so i used one cup heavy cream and one cup whole milk instead. I salted the cream sauce added grated parmesan, garlic powder, pepper, dried parsley to it. The kids and I loved it!

Same as people suggested, add some more spices to both the beef and the sauce.. I thought the sauce was a bit thick, so if you're a health conscious eater maybe you want to take a cup off..

It’s very tasty; however, I did doctor up the recipe with fresh herbs (Thyme, Rosemary, Parsley). Read the reviews and took their advice by adding Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon Mustard, Cayenne pepper and tons of garlic. Without these additions, it would have been only sustenance. Wish I added more liquid to the beef mixture. It was a bit dry.

This recipe is amazing. As mentioned in the other reviews added some herbs and tomato chunks to the meat (cooked well until all fluid drained) and turned out delicious 😊 will do it again for sure

Great! But I added all spices in my cupboard to the meat and followed other reviews and added Worcester sauce! Definitely a plus. would have been boring without the additional spices

This is a great recipe base. I too added a bunch of spices like cayenne, italian herbs, garlic, bay leaf, and celery salt to give it some depth. Other than that it was excellent, super easy to follow, very filling.

This recipe is really bland on its own. I followed tips from other comments and it turned out delicious. I added 2 tbs of whorchestershire and 5 cloves of garlic to the beef. I added 3 cloves of garlic, 1 tbs of whorchestershire, a couple tbs of basil pesto, a 1/4 of parmesan cheese, and 5 tbs of djon mistard to the sauce. Yes that's how bland it was until I Doctored the heck out of it.

I had to add parmesan, garlic and Worcestershire sauce otherwise the sauce and meat were very bland. I added 1 tbs of Worcestershire to the beef and half cup of fresh grated parmesan and two garlic cloves to the sauce... it was fantastic!
