Description
Classic vanilla scones are a delicious treat to serve any time of day. These scones are soft and tender, with a subtle sweetness and buttery vanilla flavor. Directions
- Combine 2 cups flour, the granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Add cubed butter and use a pastry blender or 2 table knives to cut butter into the dry ingredients until pieces of butter are roughly the size of peas. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup half-and-half, 1 egg, and 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract.
- Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add liquid ingredients. Use a spatula to combine them, stirring and folding ingredients together until dough is rough and shaggy, but no bits of loose dry ingredients remain.
