  • 1/3 cup dry white wine
  • 6 cups beef stock
  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tsp. white wine vinegar

  • 12 slices French baguette (3/4-inch-thick slices)
  • 1 cup shredded swiss cheese

    Delicious! I will definitely make again! Added extra garlic and 3 teaspoons of white wine vinegar as it was still sweet after 2 teaspoons. No other changes, delicious!

    Delicious! I made this for my mother who had to be on liquids for a couple of days. Much better and more satisfying than store-bought soup. We just left out the cheese and baguette for her until later. An excellent recipe and will make again and again as my mother and I are onion lovers!

    Enjoyed by everyone at the table, served 6 perfectly. Followed other contributors advice with some extra garlic also. The cheese blend is perfect. Had this for mains and everyone was full after. Will make this again for sure.
