Awesome cake. Moist, flavorful. I added a 1/4 teaspoon of allspice to the batter to up the flavor a bit.

Easy to make. I added cinnamon and nutmeg to the batter and after spreading into the pan, sprinkled a tiny bit more on top. Glad I did otherwise I feel it would be bland. Very good. Will definitely make again. Wish I had some vanilla ice cream or Redi Whip to put on top

Delicious. I went the extra step and substituted homemade applesauce (drained off excess liquid) for the raw apples. Very moist and enhanced the apple flavor.

Awesome. My family really enjoyed it. Statements included “don’t Lise the recipe” and “this is to die for” I added an extra Apple just because I had one left, I didn’t change anything else.

This recipe was delicious and very forgiving! Only had 1/3 cup brown sugar left, so subbed for regular granulated sugar and some honey. I also never have butter milk or dairy milk around, so I subbed with almond milk and 1 Tbsp vinegar. Added my favorite Cake Spice blend as well. So delicious overall! Hard to go wrong with the crunchy cinnamon sugar topping, and there is absolutely no need to go through the tedious task of peeling your apples.

I made it in a 8 by 11 pan. I added walnuts to the topping and added some extra cinnamon. I also used 1 apple and 1 cup of applesauce. The cake is moist and the crunch on top is good. Basic cake and would consider making it again.

This cake was such a unexpected surprise! It was so easy to make and so hard to quit eating!!! Moist and delicious!

I would make this again it was easy, and I love when a recipe has actual measurements (as in 1.5 cups) for the fruit, not counts. If I used 3 “medium” apples, as many recipes are written, I’d get different results every time. The flavor could be improved, but this cake is easy enough that I can play with the recipe in the future, as suggested by the blogger.

Soooo good! I followed the recipe, but doubled the topping. Delicious warm with vanilla ice cream!

It is very good but the recipe proportions are off. If you use the pan called for it is more of an apple crisp because of how thin it is.

Amazing cake! My son said it’s so special.. it’s like visiting an old aunt that baked something special just because you’re coming to visit. He absolutely loves it. My whole family loves it. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

This is the best apple cake. I’ve made it 4 times and get rave reviews every time. Great recipe!

Yummy! Added extra apples and about half a cup of apple sauce and it is super good. Also did the Greek yogurt sub for the buttermilk and extra topping which work out well! Will definitely make again!

I added a quarter tsp of cinnamon and quarter tsp of nutmeg to the batter, which tastes nice with the apple. Next time I bake this, I'll add granulated sugar to the brown sugar, because I would like the cake to be sweeter.

Easy, moist and tasty. It’s a keeper. I used one cup of brown sugar, added cinnamon and nutmeg, and used two cups of apples. Since our apples are sweet, I could have used less sugar.

An update to my earlier review...just made this in a tube pan and it turned out even better. I increased the baking time to 60 minutes. Next time I will butter and flour the tube pan as there was a bit of sticking. As I did last time I added 1/2 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to the batter. Whether you go with a tube pan or the baking pan I would move up to 2 cups of apples. I did that this time and the extra apples really stand out. BTW: I used a 50/50 mixture of Anne and Dorsett Golden apples.

Easy and delicious, i blitzed the apple in the food processor first and it was like a tasty mini apple pie flavour cake. Delicious!
