Is more like a cobbler than a cake! Made this, but knew it needed additional liquid with the apples. Liquid is needed to cook the cake mix properly and not leave a powdery mess on top. To 4 apples, I added the juice from a regular soup-size can of pear halves (reserved the pears and made pear salad with them). at the 30 minute mark, I pierced the topping with a knife in several places to allow the juices up so the cake mix would cook properly. Did it again in 5 minutes and added 1/2 c. chopped pecans. Out of the oven in 40 mins. Tastes great - but see why some people said it didn't work. Also depends on the apple used.

I've made this recipe twice now and both were failures... im going to try again but i will actually make make the cake mixture and use that

Horrible, I will not make it again. The directions were very vague

I was so excited to make this, the picture of it looks so good! I saved and printed this recipe without reading the directions. When it came time to make, I gathered all my ingredient and started going through the directions. I read it as put in half the peeled and sliced apples and then sprinkled cake mix... I didn't know what to do with the other half of the apples so figured now was the time to add them! Sprinkled on cinnamon and sugar and into the oven it went. I'm not sure what magic I expected to happen in there. It came out looking nothing like the picture but actually tasted alright. I think I'll have to try it one more time.

This was the worst cake that ever was,it turned out so badly i had to toss it apparently there is some thing missing from it.

This is the best apple cake ever. Moist and delicious. Easy to prepare and great taste. Highly recommend
